At no time has the Matrox DRI driver used AGP memory for textures.
Matrox now have their own Linux developers in-house, and it's no secret
that their involvement with PI/VA ended a long time ago. I know I've
done a bit of work on the driver recently, but this has been a volunteer
effort to improve overall driver stability.
Failing another volunteer effort to add this (and any other "features")
to the driver, you'd have to nag Matrox themselves. Perhaps one of
their Linux people can get in touch with you (I'm guessing they are
subscribed to the list?).
When I get a bit of spare time, I will adjust the static offscreen
memory partitioning to either fail outright or grab just enough for the
minimum texture heap size. No guarantees as to when that will be, of
course. I have many other things that I need to work on...
Of course, this being an open source project, and the G200/G400 specs
freely available, you could always work on it yourself :-)
