I've got a Tiger S2460 and a Radeon, and suffer from this bug. I'd love to help nail it.
I built XFree86 last weekend from CVS head, and got it running. But, direct rendering isn't working. (I'm using the same XF86Config-4 as for my XFree86 4.2 server, for which direct rendering is working fine.) I found in the log: (II) RADEON(0): [drm] installed DRM signal handler (II) RADEON(0): [DRI] installation complete (II) RADEON(0): [drm] Added 32 65536 byte vertex/indirect buffers (II) RADEON(0): [drm] Mapped 32 vertex/indirect buffers Entered drmRadeonStartCP(6): ioctl return was NULL. (II) RADEON(0): Direct rendering enabled Symbol RADEONEngineInit from module /usr/X11R6-Testing/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o is unresolved! Symbol RADEONEngineInit from module /usr/X11R6-Testing/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o is unresolved! Did I screw up installing the kernel modules or something? If you guys can help me get this server going, I'll test whatever debugging code you like, and test proposed fixes. I've put in some debugging code of my own, but I'm not going to use it until I get the server running. (Please cc me, because I'm not subscribed.)
