This might be a BIOS problem. Current drivers are using the
XFre86 Int10 module for doing mode switches. Thanks for another
reason for not letting that drivers run on third party boards.

Actually, my "Built by ATI" board also has problems with these drivers switching back to text consoles once X is started. If I start X and do a Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch back to the console, X dies. So this is not necessarily a bad BIOS problem.

On the plus side TuxRacer and q3demo run faster and better with these drivers, on the minus side Xv is still broken (luckily xine lets me use the opengl renderer).
