I've tried to compile it, it needs xfree 4.2.0 source: I've installed it, but the install program says that it's not the xfree86 4.2.0 source code, even if it's.
The installer program has this synopsis:
savage install [-u (uninstall)] *position of the source code main tree*
I put /root/xf420/xc.
