after the xscreenesaver flying toasters froze on my desktop, i found this in my /var/log/messages:
/////////////////////////////////////////////////// Jan 24 11:31:44 willy_wonka /kernel: error: [drm:radeon_lock_take] *ERROR* 4 holds heavyweight lock Jan 24 11:31:49 willy_wonka /kernel: error: [drm:radeon_lock_take] *ERROR* 4 holds heavyweight lock Jan 24 11:39:41 willy_wonka /kernel: Copyright (c) 1992-2003 The FreeBSD Project. /////////////////////////////////////////////////// the 3rd line is rebooting, 8 minutes later. whatever happened, the whole machine froze... i couldn't even get out of X to a console. after rebooting, i didn't find any *.core dumps anywhere on / more relevant info.... * OS: FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE * dmesg lines: drm0: <ATI Radeon QY RV100 VE> port 0xa800-0xa8ff mem 0xcfef0000-0xcfefffff,0xc0000000-0xc7ffffff at device 0.0 on pci1 info: [drm] AGP at 0xd0000000 64MB info: [drm] Initialized radeon 1.8.0 20020828 on minor 0 * pciconf -lv [EMAIL PROTECTED]:0:0: class=0x030000 card=0x2023148c chip=0x51591002 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'ATI Technologies' device = 'RV100 Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE' class = display subclass = VGA attached is "XFree86.0.log_dri-crash.gz". if it doesn't come through just ask me for a copy, i'll hang on to it for a few days/weeks. i don't subscribe to this list, so if anyone needs more info contact me off-list. i found someone else who reported something like this in usenet, but no resolution. i don't know if this is a known bug or not, but i'm guessing that this info might be useful to improve the next version. thanks.... ...atom _______________________________________________ PGP key - http://smasher.suspicious.org/pgp.txt 3EBE 2810 30AE 601D 54B2 4A90 9C28 0BBF 3D7D 41E3 ------------------------------------------------- Where is Lee Harvey Oswald now that we really need him? -- Bumper Sticker
