you sure you were running top of tree? I fixed this a while back in
http://freedesktop.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/dri/xc/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/shared/drm/kernel/Attic/mach64_irq.c?only_with_tag=mach64-0-0-7-branch

I've tested the module loads/compiles on 2.4 and 2.6 and runs on 2.4..
