The old Xserver or server-side glx code (not sure) doesn't work correctly with the new client-side glx code. With a new Xserver compiled from CVS I get this: name of display: :0.0 libGL: XF86DRIGetClientDriverName: 1.1.16 savage (screen 0) libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/X11R6-DRI/lib/modules/dri/savage_dri.so drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID pci:0000:01:00.0 drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenDevice: open result is 4, (OK) drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 4 drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports pci:0000:01:00.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes [...] In other word, your only option is to compile from source until this is tracked down and fixed.
