My sincere apologies. I'm being an idiot. I missed the "Building" page in the wiki, for some reason.

It certainly would be easier if this patch could be integrated into cvs (so it would appear in the snapshots), maybe this would be possible? At first sight it looks quite good to me and as far as I can see it shouldn't cause much harm, though I don't really have much of an idea of the code in that area ;-).
