Hello everyone, I don't know if there is a more appropriate list for this, but I hope someone here can help with my problem.
I pulled the latest CVS for the DRI drivers to update the system for my Savage 4.0 card. I wanted to see if I got better 3D performance and possibly fix a few small issues I had since getting hardware acceleration working about 2 months ago. At the same time (in retrospect a poor idea) I decided to recompile my kernel to delete more unneeded modules/hardware options. Both compiles seem to complete fine, but I no longer get hardware acceleration. I traced it to a problem with agpgart.o not loading during boot. Without this the savage.o fails to load. The error message I get from dmesg is Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 322M agpgart: unsupported bridge agpgart: no supported devices found. I am using a K7S5A motherboard and the output of lspci is 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 735 Host (rev 01) 0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Virtual PCI-to-PCI bridge (AGP) 0000:00:02.0 ISA bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS85C503/5513 (LPC Bridge) 0000:00:02.5 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev d0) 0000:00:02.7 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller (rev a0) 0000:00:03.0 Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS900 PCI Fast Ethernet (rev 90) 0000:00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Savage 4 (rev 02) I used the same kernel source as I was using the last time I recompiled months ago (2.4.23). I have updated to a new version of gcc in the meantime though. As a test, I went back and reused my old, original .config file and it still does not allow agpgart to load properly so it seems like something else changed since I last compiled and it is not related to changing .config options like I thought. Does anyone have any ideas what I should look for? I am using Debian sarge with an Athlon CPU and I have not added new hardware or changed BIOS options in a very long time. -- George Lengel (Worm) "Kohli head.
