You have no release numbering?!? 

Why 1.5, because the CLE266 XvMC driver needs that
version.

I'm looking for a stable version of the 1.5 interface to use with
a 2.4.25 kernel. How do I get that source? Can I trust the head of
CVS to have been tested enough for production use?

Before you suggest it I cannot use a 2.6 kernel.
