use insmod with explicit path specification for modules that are being tested.
The new code seems to lock up. I attached the end of the log from tuxracer.

Yes, glxgears works, except when I try to move another window in front of it.
Which Xserver are you using ? Try recent X.org CVS, I think I fixed this issue there..
OK, latest X.org, mesa and r300 cvs...glxgears freezes display, mouse and keyboard under 25 seconds.
