Is it PCI Express carD? if so suspend/resume is a fixed bug in Xorg CVS,
you need to get that stable ati driver and install it on Xorg7.0, if you
are running Fedora it should be in updates-testing I think and Ubuntu has
it in dapper..

0x5462 ATI RADEON X600 SE with 64 MB of ram, as i can find it in my toshiba
satellite m40x 295. i have tested with x.org 7 and as i can see there are
problems with kernel-interna software-suspend, not beeing able to resume
proberly when dri is enabled in the xorg.conf file. so i am not quite sure
whether this is a kernel issue or related to the x.org 7.
i also will look forward to report to x.org, though they seem not to know
about 0x5462. so i have to override the chip-id with 0x5460 or 0x3150, both
seem to work fine for me, mentioning the issue with software-suspend.
so there is hope that it is helpful!
