I don't know if it's related or not (is the M24 apparented to the 9800
in any way ?), but on Tridge laptop, with one of these chips, he gets
total hard lockups of the laptop when using google earth with the
current r300 DRI (after disabling the smooth fallbacks since google
earth trigger them). It worked with an earlier r300 DRI though (whatever
debian used to have, he'll try to figure out more precisely).

Also, Wolfenstein locks up solid right away if you pop the quake
"console". If you don't do that, it works fine in window mode (it
displays nothing in full screen). With both the old and the current
driver.

I have asked him to test with fglrx first to see if that helps. I expect
he'll pop on this list or the bugzilla with more details soon.
