About a month ago someone made the suggestion of setting my bus type to PCI to see if it fixed the bug where enabling DRI loading in xorg.conf would lockup X...
It worked. The performance is about 1/10th of what it is with fglrx, but it actually does work, and glxinfo does confirm I'm using the R300 driver. This isn't a solution, of course, but it does indicate whatever is causing X to lockup is in the AGP init code for my platform. I am on a VIA K8T800Pro-based motherboard, which uses a VT8237 PCI bridge. This is an AM64 platform, using a 32-bit only Sempron. The Radeon is a RV350 AP Radeon 9600 Pro. Also, I'd like to mention, as of Monday (soon as UPS gets here) I'm replacing this card with a much more powerful Nvidia one. so I will no longer be able to do DRI testing with this card. -- Patrick McFarland || http://AdTerrasPerAspera.com "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." -- Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
