There is already a bug for fast writes, #6001. It never works (with radeons at
least), and noone really knows why. As for AGP8x, should work. However, since it
seems to almost work for you and only crashes when starting a 3d app (so
potentially lots of agp traffic happens), sounds like a hw issue to me. It is
possible the windows driver hacks this up with changing agp drive strength and
other nasty settings (if you tried it there and it worked).
