No kidding. What you're using is certainly new enough. But fact is, current (mesa) dri driver will not output this message since a year, it will simply fail with unknown device ids. If you've built from git, I suspect you have an old radeon_screen.c in your r300 directory or something, which got replaced by a symlink a long time ago (but this can fail when updating repos).
