If you have followed the steps described in https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/DRILL/Installing+Drill+in+Distributed+Mode to configure and start the DrillBit services, then it is running in distributed mode. If you are starting it using SQLLine, then it is running in embedded mode.
The ZooKeeper settings are configured in "drill-override.conf" located in "$DRILL_HOME/conf/".
