Artem, good to know you're the author of usbser. Nice work, I really like it, it's very flexible and quite easy to use.

I was trying to say the same with "... but the issue of other interfaces making assumptions which conflict with each other will probably remain" To all: Garrett has very well explained to me in private why he thinks a nexus driver (which Artem had also suggested before) would be a good choice. I'll have to see how that integrates with usbser, but I hope to find the time for a rewrite with a proper design after I have a working prototype.
