Thanks T. I've opened bug 9349 for this issue: http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=9349 I do see that there is a driver specifically for the Sil3114, 3512, and 3112. I don't know what those controllers are, but they're not what I have. OpenSolaris automatically chooses the generic ata driver for the 0680. > $ grep 680 /boot/solaris/devicedb/master > ISY0040|PNP0600|PNP0680 ata msd all ata.bef "IDE controller" Linux does have a specific driver for it [1]. Maybe it's doing something differently to initialize it compared to the generic Solaris driver?
