Then it looks like, if the driver does not collect the statistics(number of
bytes sent or received),
then it is not possible to get the PCI device/slot data outflow using a
software based approach ?
Alternately i was thinking of an idea
As an example lets consider that i modify the link of /dev/hme
from hme -> ../devices/pseudo/cl...@0:hme
to hme -> ../devices/pseudo/cl...@0:mydriver
then, if someone opens "open("/dev/hme", xxx)" then it would mean that the open
would resolve to my drivers major number and should be called. Further read and
write can be done to my driver. will this work ?
