As the subject says, I can only find drivers for WIFI supporting IEEE 802.11a/b/g but not /n. Anything in the works? I'd like to change the minipci card in my laptop and would like to purchase one that would support the IEEE 802.11n standard in hardware and driver for Opensolaris.

Hi Artem,

I looked over the info for Intel that covers iwh. What is posted is:

"IWH driver is for Intel Shirley Peak WiFi chipset. At present, this driver only supports basic 802.11B/G mode"

So I don't trust the download link to include 11N support. Also, the SUNWiwh package is dated "VERSION=11.11,REV=2008.12.23.17.41" which is way before the link that you posted.
What's your OpenSolaris build? IWH driver does support 802.11n after OpenSolaris build 122.

So how I see it, is if I purchase another minipci WIFI card, it should be using the Intel Shirley Peak WiFi chipset.

I also noted that there are plans to upgrade the iwk driver to include 11N support in Phase 2. I currently have PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] card. But what bothers me is this message I get in /var/adm/messages:

Oct 6 00:48:17 Solaris-1 iwk: [ID 925725 kern.warning] WARNING: fatal firmware error

That and I can never connect at the college I go to Friday evenings.
What's security mode of the AP at the college? Note that wpa/eap mode is not supported.
All Windows and MAC computers have no problem.

Maybe I should get another PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] card. Hopefully the IWH will support WEP/WPA/WPA2 which the IWK only presently supports WEP, WPA-PSK.
IWK is same as IWH, they both support WEP, WPA/WPA2 Personal mode.
