Well, at least your thread has refreshed the archives, so the next person wondering how to do this will have a better chance of getting a hit in Google. :) BTW, if you have interest in building with gcc, make sure you use the flags -m64 -mcmodel=kernel -mno-red-zone -ffreestanding with gcc.
