Forgive me, if this is the wrong place for this, but I'm very (!) new
to opensolaris.
I've purchased a new Dell Zino HD 400 to run OpenSolaris on. My goal
is to share 2x 1.5TB usb drives using nfs, smb/cifs and afp. The
built-in Broadcom Corp NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe doesn't
have a driver. Nor does the Broadcom Corp BCM4312 80211b/g WIFI .
I've even added a Belkin F5D5050 100Mbps Ethernet (USB to LAN), but
that doesn't automatically configure either!
There's no native USB2Ethernet driver on Solaris/OpenSolaris. You can
try a USB wifi adapter or find a supported nic from the open source
driver, http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/.
BTW, if somebody has interest to develop a new usb2ethernet driver, the
usbecm(7D) driver can be a start
point(http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/uts/common/io/usb/clients/usbecm/usbecm.c).
I left some interfaces to accommodate vendor specific configuration/data
formats in that driver. Start from the usbecm driver, it's easy to
develop a vendor specific driver.
Thanks,
Lei Chen
Please help me get the network working on this system. I'm used to
commercial Solaris, but haven't had this problem there.
Thank you for patience with a novice.
