Honestly, none of these seem like improvements. Checkpatch's line-width warnings rarely result in improved code. (Its "maximum indentation level" warnings, which prompt people to refactor functions, can sometimes help; however, given a sensible indentation level, wrapping lines rarely if ever seems like an improvement.) > drivers/staging/bcm/DDRInit.c | 176 > ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++---------- > 1 file changed, 134 insertions(+), 42 deletions(-) > > diff --git a/drivers/staging/bcm/DDRInit.c b/drivers/staging/bcm/DDRInit.c > index 4c7f518..cfaa2c1 100644 > --- a/drivers/staging/bcm/DDRInit.c > +++ b/drivers/staging/bcm/DDRInit.c > @@ -818,15 +818,21 @@ int ddr_init(struct bcm_mini_adapter *Adapter) > if ((Adapter->chip_id != BCS220_2) && > (Adapter->chip_id != BCS220_2BC) && > (Adapter->chip_id != BCS220_3)) { > - retval = rdmalt(Adapter, (UINT)0x0f000830, &uiResetValue, > sizeof(uiResetValue));
