Hi All,
I am doing a study of the Drizzle project as part of a FOSS course I
am doing at the Australian National University
(http://cs.anu.edu.au/student/comp8440/). This course is being taken
by Andrew "Tridge" Tridgell and Bob Edwards, who some of you may have
heard of, or even know.
To that end I am hoping to ask a few questions that will help me
understand the project. I understand that most people are busy, so
please only spare me some time if you have time to spare. I am still
unclear about a couple of things.
Firstly, I would like to know what motivates people to be involved
with Drizzle. Are you 'scratching an itch'? Do you just love
database programming? Are you paid to work on it? Ego-boo?
Secondly, I would like to know which companies are commercially
invested in Drizzle. Who employs you to work on Drizzle?
And thirdly, I would like to know who wears what hats. Who works on,
or maybe 'owns', which parts of the code? Who is the primary contact
for something in the Drizzle project?
Perhaps something like the following:
Benevolent Dictator For Life (BDFL): Brian Aker
Project leader: Brian Aker
Code commit 'Captain': Brian Aker
Spokesperson: Brian Aker
Release Manager: ??
Hudson Manager: ??
Bug master: Lorenzo De Liso??
Documentation master: ??

Legal contact: Is there one?
Replication plug-in: Jay Pipes
libdrizzle: Eric Day
Pandora-build: Monty Taylor
Unit-test God: Pawal Blokus
What else??
So if you feel that you fulfil a particular role, please tell me.
I have tried very hard to make this study a mildly entertaining
introduction that would be useful to a new developer coming to the
Drizzle project. As it is an assessable study for university I can't
post it now, but I of course hope that that a 'corrected' version of
it might eventually appear somewhere at drizzle.org.
