Yes, it was a Rackspace feature request and has been brought up many
times by the community. The difference with our stored procedures is
they can be written in many different languages.
The initial use case is MySQL migration (I and many others have worked
on MySQL apps that use them) but there are developers that like that
logic in the database. With the proposed mechanism it will still be an
optional plugin.
