You have already had a good dive into the code with this project so feel free to take on any bug you feel comfortable with. There may be some that are assigned to other people (such as me) that we will not be able to fix soon due to workload but you would be able to fix. So if you see anything that interests you that is already assigned please let us know either here or on the Freenode IRC channel.
