Hi Harsh If you are capable of writing C++, you should find yourself quite at home. In fact that's one thing I like about Drizzle (as I have relatively little C++ experience myself) that a lot of the code is quite clean and understandable. This is thanks to years of refactoring the old MySQL code and it really makes it easy to work with. (But it could be more commented :-)
If you don't have a particular idea where to start, we keep a list of easy bugs here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/drizzle/+bugs?field.tag=low-hanging-fruit Of course, you can also look at other bugs and if they feel easy to you, feel free to attack them! If you have an idea of what you would want to do, you can share it here on the list and might get some tips from the more experienced Drizzle devs. You can also try on the #drizzle IRC channel, but as people have jobs and such they may not always be responsive there. (I'm hingo on IRC.) If you'd like to work on build and deb package related stuff there are currently items we are working on on that front, let me know if this is an interesting area and I can share a piece of that. (It was recently discussed on this list, so you could browse the archives to find out more about this work.) Also, if the low hanging fruits don't sound interesting to you, just ping me again on this list or on irc and I can throw out some ideas. (Let us know what interests you and what your experience is so we can go with that...) Finally, a few links that will help you get setup: See the README file in the Drizzle sources for how to make it build http://docs.drizzle.org/contributing/getting_started.html http://wiki.drizzle.org/Main_Page (I find myself often going to the wiki page about GDB debugging.) For writing plugins, there are plugin/hello_world/ and plugin/hello_event/ that serve as good examples. And also, welcome to the Drizzle community :-) henrik On Thu, Jan 12, 2012 at 8:54 PM, Harsh vardhan <[email protected]> wrote: > hi to all,, i m new with open source development, so i wanted help to > get a start,, and also i wanted to to know that would a good > comfortability with c/c++ would be enough or do i need to have some more > prerequisites to start working with any drizzle project.. > thanx in advance.. > -- > This message was sent from Launchpad by > Harsh vardhan (https://launchpad.net/~harshvardhan1991) > using the "Contact this team" link on the Drizzle Discuss team page > (https://launchpad.net/~drizzle-discuss). > For more information see > https://help.launchpad.net/YourAccount/ContactingPeople > > _______________________________________________ > Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~drizzle-discuss > Post to : [email protected] > Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~drizzle-discuss > More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp -- [email protected] +358-40-8211286 skype: henrik.ingo irc: hingo www.openlife.cc My LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=9522559 _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~drizzle-discuss Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~drizzle-discuss More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
