+1. I like the sketch, too! We should definitely archive it for posterity!

I love the "i"

I like Thorstens idea of gears/mechanical reference as well -- not simply robots.

Hello,
I sketched down first rough idea:

I am not fully satisfied with it (really just a quick draft) but could be a
good starting point.
I tried to keep it far away from Android and Star Wars stuff (do we really
want 70's look&feel - aren't we in the new millenium now?).

Feedback welcome!

Regards,
Lukas

While we are on the topic of a potential 0.1 release...

Lukáš Vlček just contacted me to see if we are still interested in
helping design a logo for Droids.

I like the direction of the existing logo:

but think it could use some help to make it look finished/ professional

Yes, we need to change this logo ASAP since it may incorporate too much material which are arguable copyrighted by certain people due to common
perceptions.

Lukas suggests we may want to do a logo contest like we did for solr.

I am ambivalent to starting an official contest vs just working on a logo (no contest). The advantage of a contest is that we could have a
fixed end date and potentially a wider set of designers. I would
happily offer $40.

thoughts?

jeje, I would love to see the first official logo coming from someone
inside (or "fan of") droids.

If Lukas wants he can provide some logo suggestions but IMO we do not
have sufficient subscriber to call for a context. We will credit his
work on our webpage if we accept it.

wdyt?
