Hi Mary (and All),

We definitely appreciate your being willing to volunteer your time!

Just so you know, we are still very early on in the process. At this
point in time, the "DSpace with Fedora Inside" initiative has not begun
any formal development. We're still looking for feedback on our
proposal, as well as more volunteer developers (if anyone else on the
list is interested and has time, let me know). We've already heard from
many interested persons, and we'll be working to better organize a
development team in the coming months.

There are several past projects we hope to build off of to make this
happen. For more information on those, see our FAQ:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace-Fedora+Integration+FAQ

Since Open Repositories conference (when this initiative was formally
announced), we've also been discussing ways to provide better
cross-training between the two project's developer teams. So, we're
working on setting up "Intro to Fedora" and "Intro to DSpace" webinars
for each of the communities.

As we don't yet have a full "development team" organized yet, the best
way to stay involved is to keep track of updates across 'dspace-devel'
(this listserv) pertaining to the initiative. It's also important to be
aware of the ongoing development of DSpace itself -- so, attending or
reading the transcripts of the DSpace Developer Meetings is highly
recommended:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Developer+Meetings

Remember one of the goals of this "DSpace with Fedora Initiative" is not
to hinder/affect the current DSpace Development process. We also want to
maintain the same DSpace experience (features, etc), so the more you
learn/know about DSpace now (and the ongoing development process there)
the better.

If you (or anyone else) have other questions, let me know. I'll add you
to a list of interested people, and as we work to get more organized,
we'll let you know (we'll also send more status updates across
dspace-devel obviously).

Thanks again,

- Tim
