Bram Luyten (@mire) commented on DS-560:
----------------------------------------

Within DCAT we tried to figure out a consensus of where the homepage should go
(in terms of functionality etc)
https://wiki.duraspace.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=25462077

After talkig to people, it seems like needs are diverse and people customize
their own homepages anyway if they want something else.
That's why, right now, it might be better to narrow the scope again to make
sure that news in XMLUI can be editted in the WebUI, just like this is possible
for JSPUI.

> XMLUI news feature in dspace/config dir
> ---------------------------------------
>
> Key: DS-560
> URL: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-560
> Project: DSpace
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: XMLUI
> Affects Versions: 1.5.0, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.6.0
> Environment: Not environment specific
> Reporter: Wendy Bossons
> Priority: Major
>
> The news feature -- both the news-xmlui.xml and related news-side and
> news-top .html files for xmlui live in the dspace/config dir. It seems like
> there should be a better location for these, other than the config dir. When
> changes are made to news, they are not propagated unless the init_config ant
> task is run.
> (Note: this JIRA task is the Topic of a dialog int he DCAT concerning ease of
> managing Content int he main Homepage of DSpace.).
