I've committed the reworked patch ('AbstractCurationTask-v2.patch') to Trunk.
This is the patch described in my previous comment, which ensures that folks
have the option of either using 'performItem()' or 'performObject()' when they
use the 'distribute()' method. This patch also ensures that 'distribute()'
works site-wide.
Marking this issue as 'resolved'.
