Hello Richard,
That is a very good question. At this time you are correct that there are
no direct alteration of the JSPUI or SWORD to provide "Advanced Embargo"
settings on Individual Bitstreams. However, it is important to note a
several features of the contribution:
1. Legacy Embargo Support still exists and is still usable by itself in
SWORD, Item Import, JSPUI, XMLUI, etc
2. Using Advanced Embargo Support is optional and enabled by adding the
submission steps to the XMLUI submission process
3. Finally, Legacy and Advanced Embargo Support can be combined to allow
legacy behavior in JSPUI, SWORD ingest and ItemImport while using advanced
support in XMLUI submission workflow. We worked to make sure that the
legacy behavior of being able to assign a default embargo range through the
item metadata and have InstallItem EmbargoSetter enforce this by setting
the resource policies
Adding "Advanced Embargo" support to SWORD and/or DSpace Packagers is a
very possible future project that may be implemented by developers that
have an interest. The core support for Advanged Embargo is in place in
version 3.0, disabled by default, but easily enabled during configuration.
Greater support can emerge in DSpace 3.1,2,3,4.0 etc.
Best,
Mark
