We couldn't be there for the OR2013 conference but for the panel session on
REST API today, there is a version now of DSpace that has had the REST API
merged into the core, allowing for deployment without the extra module, and
thought this might add to the discussion.

It is using a REST client in Joomla, and also incorporates Jomsocial to
build a community around the repository and commenting and rating.
