Several Committers discussed this ticket today. We suggest removing the *center* searchbox and leaving the navigation searchbox in tact. Many other websites tend to put their searchboxes either in the header or in a side menu. DSpace should obey this "best practice" as well, and keep the searchbox in a consistent location on all pages.
