Hi Andrei,

using the Solr search response directly is your best. Firstly,
whatever way you use to retrieve the metadata, you'll still have to do
the search query to retrieve the result set (the set if IDs you want).
Secondly, processing the Solr response is easy - Solr has many output
formats (the wt parameter) and you can ask it to give you only the
fields you ask for (the fl parameter), etc.
