I believe so.  And, as I recall, the code to add the DSpace version to
web pages had not been written when 1.5.2 was released.

Another way to find the version of DSpace, at least since about 1.4,
is to look at [DSpace]/lib/dspace-api-*.jar.  The DSpace version
should be part of the name of that JAR.

Sometime around 1.6 or 1.7 (I think), DSpace began adding to each page
a 'Generator' META tag which gives the version.

Very recent versions have the '[DSpace]/bin/dspace version' command.
