we are running DSpace for a self-archiving platform for research data. Within this installation we want to re-use certain data from an item description within the description of a certain bitstream associated to this item during the submission process. Our main issue for that is how to read the data from a previous form step (describe step) into the “file upload” step. It would be fairly easy (ajax call of the mets xml), if there was any way to have the item id within the file upload step. The hash token mechanism of the URL currently prevents this. Any suggestions? BTW: Our user interface is implemented in xmlui.
