Thanks. We got it working on our first try. I had some old notes from DSpace
1.3/1.4 that I found in my files.

We did exactly what you describe below. We've gone one additional step.

We've created a group just for IP and a group for LDAP. Since it's stackable,
it first tests for on campus/off campus IP and then will got to the LDAP for
authorization. Works just like our ezproxy server for our library databases.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Subject: [dspace-tech] Re: Stackable authentication and IP authentication

I have a group related to an IP range. Everybody who logs in from there belongs
to the group. This group has READ access to some communities (not "anonymous").

You can have the same. And if you have another group you can give both groups
READ access to some communities.

Is it possible to have more than one group assigned to the IP authentication?

For example when using the LDAP configuration we have it set to autoregister
and into a special group.

So I would set my IP authentication up to have that special group, but will I
not need an "anonymous" too? Or will it test to see that it will allow anyone
in? I want people who come onto campus be able to gain access to these
materials, especially guests.

I'm not sure I'm expressing myself correctly.

Thanks for any input.
