I've been asked to look to see if this is possible and I haven't been able to find anything on point in the documentation.
Some of the librarians using our Dspace installation want to be able to add to a controlled vocabulary list "on-the-list". For example, when you enter in a subject heading in the dc.subject field, the field either looks to see if your entry matched a previous submission or auto-suggests based on a previous submission. I know that we can edit the item-view.xml file to include a basic drop-down menu of preselected options but I don't see a way to achieve this.
