first check these two things
a) check where you customized your message catalogue
it is recommended to do all your customizations in
[dspace-source]/dspace/modules/jspui/src/main/resources/
see
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/Localization+L10n#LocalizationL10n-Wheretofindthemessagecatalog.1
anything there will overlay the default message catalogue.
b) did you build and deploy your application after having customized the
message catalogue?
This is necessary for the changes to take effect.
