environment variables for the necessary software to run dspace 1.5 are( I have
added these on .bashrc file)

export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
export PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin
# Maven variable
M2_HOME=/usr/local/apache-maven/apache-maven-2.0.9
export M2=$M2_HOME/bin
export PATH=$M2:$PATH
# Ant variable
export ANT_HOME=/usr/local/ant/
export PATH=$PATH:$ANT_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin
here is the out after running
mvn install and mvn package as dspace unix user
