Hi Jochen, The patch has turn off the ability of changing password (unless DSpace 1.5.1 is not honouring this? -- is this the case on your test?).
On ShibAuthentication.java:211, you'll see allowSetPassword=false, which means users can't change their passwords once they've been authenticated with Shib (however they can change their passwords on some other means, if dspace instance support other authN mechanisms).
