Strange. After I hard-coded my log.dir in my log4j.properties and
log4j.xml files (in /dspace/config/dspace.cfg), the error disappeared,
however I am still getting these last 2 errors when I shut down my
virtual server:

This strikes me as odd... I might review your log4j.properties or
log4j.xml to verify its set properly
