Hi,
I was looking at the statistical reports in Dspace 1.5.1
(http://papyrus.bib.umontreal.ca/jspui/statistics
<http://papyrus.bib.umontreal.ca/jspui/statistics> ) and have some questions
about the relevancy of a few of the results obtained. Can someone help me
understand the following:
1) The Average views per item in the Averaging Information section seems to be
obtained by dividing the number of items views (in the General Overview
section) by the number of All Items (in the Archive Information section).
What is the relevancy, at least for monthly reports, to have this averaging
information? Do I understand correctly that if only 2 documents were archived
during a given month but that for the same period the system recorded more than
5000 items views (on all items contained in DSpace, not only on the 2 items
archived), then the average views per item will be 2500? It doesn't make sense
to me...
2) I would have thought that, for a given period (i.e. a monthly report), the
number of Items Archived (General Overview section) would equal the number
obtained for All items (in the Archive Information section)....but it's not the
case. I don't understand the difference between those 2 data.
Also I have not succeeded in adding more stop words to the exclude list (in
dstat.cfg) (e.g. "exclude.word=la", "exclude.word=un"). They seem to be picked
up even if in the list. Anything I can try?
And last, the default settings for the exclude.type list (in dstat.cfg), is to
have those lines uncommented:
# search types that DSpace supports which should be excluded from the search
words report
exclude.type=title:
exclude.type=author:
exclude.type=keyword:
exclude.type=identifier:
exclude.type=abstract:
exclude.type=series:
I would have thought that the most wanted behavior would be to have, showed in
the statistical report, those words searched within the above indices (don't we
want words searched within the title and authors index? it seems very relevant
to me....) But commenting those lines gave me strange and completely inacurate
results. Leaving those lines uncommented seems to have those words from those
indices included in the results (instead of excluded)...
Thanks.
