A few thoughts: o I would swap steps 4 and 5. That is: stop the live server and then back it up. Otherwise someone could sneak in and deposit a submission between the backup and the shutdown. Not likely, but why not just make it impossible?
o You may find it difficult to test everything you want to, without at least a few of the assetstore files. You might consider exporting two or three items from live, then deleting and re-importing them on dev. o There is, of course, a step 7.5: package and build and install the patched DSpace on live. -- Mark H.
