Hi DSpace folks: I'd like to be able to force certain metadata values for all items in certain collections, e.g., all items in our ETD collection should have dc.type = "Thesis". This is something that I'd like to set during submission and not batch-edit afterwards.
I was thinking about setting a default value via input-forms.xml and making it read-only, but I don't see any way to do that. It looks like the read-only part should be done via the <visibility> tag (the use of which isn't entirely clear), but I don't see anything about setting default values. I don't mind whether the metadata values are shown during submission or not. Any suggestions? I'm running DSpace 1.6.2 with XMLUI.
