Yes, do that and call "[dspace]/bin/dspace cleanup -v" - that will
actually delete the files from disk.

That most likely left some orphaned resourcepolicies and whatnot
behind. I don't think there would be any serious consequences but I'd
still recommend you to rollback if you can and use the above
procedure.
