Hi Keir,

there are many ways how LDAP can be set up, therefore making a generic
module to suit everyone is hard. The hard part is testing all possible
scenarios.

I just wanted to note that you can still copy in the old
LDAPHierarchicalAuthentication module (or any other auth module) from
an older version of DSpace and it will work just fine (with the old
authentication-ldap.cfg). Of course, that's a workaround and I
appreciate you're trying to find a solution to the problem.
