Thanks for your quick response..!

yes... [dspace]  means  /home/dspace/{dspace_directory_name}/

so we are executing command from / like

*cd /home/dspace/{dspace_directory_name}/bin *
then we are execute the command
*[root@... /bin]dspace itemcounter*

then it's display "dspace command not found" and same way for the update
index..it's showing the same error..
